Disorders of Higher Cortical Visual Function
Lee Eek-Sung

Abstract
Higher cortical visual impairments are the visual symptoms induced by striate and extrastriate cortex lesions. Compared to visual symptoms in the visual pathway lesions before the striate cortex, the symptoms of patients from striate and extrastriate cortex lesions are often ambiguous so the diagnosis may be difficult. Higher cortical visual impairments are classified as visual symptoms due to striate cortex lesions and extrastriate cortex lesions, and the latter can be further divided into ventral or dorsal stream disorders. The visual symptoms can also be classified as negative and positive visual symptoms.
